Launch of the Joint Lab of Symplectic Geometry and Dynamical Systems
The Laboratory of Geometry and Dynamical Systems at UPC-EPSEB (goo.gl/0UhWGU) promotes the collaboration between Geometers and Dynamicists interested in common problems from different perspectives and with complementary techniques. The lab focuses on questions which are on the crossroads of Symplectic Geometry and Dynamical Systems.
Current projects involve action-angle coordinates, stability problems and diffusion in symplectic manifolds with singularities (b-symplectic and origami-like or more degenerate) and other singular models showing up in actual problems in Celestial Mechanics.
The current team comprises Prof. Amadeu Delshams, Dr. Marcel Guardia and Prof. Eva Miranda together with the Ph.D. students Roisin Braddell, Cédric Oms, Arnau Planas and Rodrigo Schaefer. The external members of the lab are David Martínez Torres (PUC-Rio de Janeiro) and Francisco Presas (ICMAT-Madrid).
The lab hosted an official opening on 10th May, with colloquium-type talks by Francisco Presas and Jacques Féjoz (Observatoire de Paris), followed by a little reception.
