Irene Arias and Eva Miranda receive ICREA Acadèmia 2016 Award

ICREA Acadèmia Distinguished Professorhip program encourages and rewards scientific excellence of the faculty staff working at the public universities in Catalonia. The awardees are entitled to increase their commitment to research plus an additional grant of 40,000 euros annually over the next five years.

The 2016 call of this program has distinguished two BGSMath researchers, Dr. Irene Arias and Dr. Eva Miranda. Both are faculty at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

Irene Arias (ERC StartingGrant 2015) focuses her research on mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of electromechanical materials, including piezo-, iron workers and flexo-electrics, to design and optimize new materials and devices.

Eva Miranda (Chair d’ExcellenceFSCMParis 2016) is focused on symplectic and Poisson geometry, and their interactions with dynamical systems. She co-leads the Geometry and Dynamical Systems Laboratory (UPC) along with Professor Amadeu Delshams.
